Trip Plan

Trekking Plans

01

Day 1

Arrival-Islamabad Sightseeing

Arrival at Islamabad, transfer to hotel for rest. If arrival is during the day, you will be taken for a short sightseeing trip around Islamabad. The new Capital City of Pakistan is lush green at the footsteps of Potohar hills. We will visit Faisal Mosque, Pakistan monument and Lok versa, institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage.

Day 2

Islamabad – Gilgit

Take an early morning flight to Gilgit – the capital town of Gilgit Baltistan. There will be ample time to explore bazaars of Gilgit and a visit to a Rock Carving Buddha from 5th century AD.

We will then drive on the road to Chilas, if there are no flights available from Islamabad- Flights to Gilgit are operated subject to weather condition.

Day 3

Gilgit – Naltar valley – Naltar Lake

We will leave Gilgit town and drive along the Hunza river up to its confluence with Naltar River at Nomal village and take the uphill road to upper Naltar valley within just a few hours.

At upper Naltar we will visit the Ski-resort; one of the two ski resorts Pakistan has and then valley view point for sweeping views before resume the drive on a winding road to Naltar Lake. This part of the road can be done only by 4WD Jeeps and that takes an hour.

Lunch will be arranged at Naltar Lake and you will have plenty of time to explore the magnetic surrounding of the Lakes in the afternoon.

Day 4

Naltar Lake- Lower Shani

We will start our ascent gradually towards to the Pakora Pass, a little bit tiring day but rewarding views all along the way. After 6-8 hrs walk we will reach the campsite known as Lower Shani. The Naltar glacier lies just below our scenic campsite and the majestic Hindukush peaks dominate the horizon.

Day 5

Lower Shani – Upper Shani

Day 5 is shorter walk for few to reach the Upper Shani while enjoy the views to campsite situated at the outskirt of Naltar Lake. This is another wonderful campsite to stay at where wild animals, such as Ibex are occasionally seen grazing on the beautiful slopes of Upper Shani.

Day 6

Upper Shani – Pakora Pass – Jut

Day 6 will be the longest and tiring day as it takes you to the climax of the trek and the trail is a bit difficult in some parts. The climb from the campsite is going to be over 3000 ft. to the Pakora Pass (4710 m), where snow remains even in midsummer and the magnificent views stretch to Pakora glacier and down to the Pakora valley. After enjoying some time on the pass, resume the trek and descend down through some rocky terrain and glacier to Jut – the campsite for tonight’s stay.

Day 7-8

Jut – Pakora village – Gilgit

Day 7 will be the last day of this trek and an easy downhill walk to Pakore village of Ishkoman Valley. We will take a break here to rest and prepare our lunch before we get on Jeep/Van and drive back to Gilgit through the fruit rich valley of Ishkoman and Punial.

Day 8-9

Hunza valley / Khunjerab Top / 4750m (OPTIONAL)

You will have two full days to explore the extraordinary Hunza valley, where you will be able to visit the ancient Baltit Fort, newly formed Attbad Lake, Hussaini Hanging bridge and Passu Glacier. You will have the choice of a spare one full day and drive all the way to Pakistan – China border; it is beautiful drive on a metal part of the highway through the mountains to highest international border.

Day 10

Hunza valley – Besham / Naran

Travel down the Karakoram highway and break the journey enroute at Besham or Naran, subject to condition of snow on Babusar top.

Day 11

Besham / Naran – Islamabad

Complete the road journey down to Islamabad towards Monal restaurant in Islamabad to wrap up the trip in a perfect ambience: good food, night view of the capital and live music.

Transfer to airport three hours prior to homebound flight.
